Some sports memorabilia deserves more than a place in a closet. For Aaron Garrett, two University of Houston football jerseys—both bearing number 43—became a matching pair of custom shadowboxes. One presents the white jersey from the front; the other features the red jersey with GARRETT across the back. Together, they tell one story from two sides.

A Five-Star Review That Says More Than Thank You

Aaron Garrett left PWCF a five-star Google review describing the project as one of the greatest customer-service experiences he had ever had. He praised the attention to detail, care, effort, and personal approach, saying the team exceeded his expectations. He also shared photographs of the two completed shadowboxes.

For us, that feedback matters because a jersey is not simply fabric. It can represent years of work, teammates, pride, and memories that cannot be replaced. We appreciate Aaron taking the time to share his experience and the finished display.

Two Matching Shadowboxes, Two Sides of a Football Story

The white University of Houston jersey displays HOUSTON and the number 43 on the front. Its companion red jersey displays GARRETT and 43 on the back. Each shadowbox includes additional football-themed details and a photograph, giving the finished pair more context than the jerseys alone.

The coordinating dark frames and red backgrounds help the two pieces read as a set, even when displayed separately. The captions along the bottom complete the connection: “I played for the name on the front…” and “…so you can remember the name on the back.”

Why Coordinated Jersey Framing Makes a Difference

Matching frames establish a consistent visual rhythm. Coordinated spacing, colors, and supporting memorabilia make the collection feel intentional. The design should also respect the shape of each jersey and allow important names, numbers, patches, and other details to remain visible.

Our custom shadowbox services can help collectors plan displays for jerseys and dimensional keepsakes. For more examples, see our De’Aaron Fox basketball jersey project and Vince Young jersey framing story.

The Details Behind a Personal Sports Display

Before framing a jersey, consider whether the front or back is most meaningful, what memorabilia belongs beside it, and where the finished piece will hang. Size, depth, mounting choices, and display conditions should be discussed for the actual item. These photos show the finished design, but they do not document the precise attachment or glazing materials used, so we will not claim methods we cannot verify.

Collectors with other meaningful objects can explore our custom framing options. The 48-star American flag project offers another example of presenting treasured memorabilia with care.

Frequently Asked Questions About Matching Jersey Shadowboxes

Can two jerseys be framed as a matching set? Yes. Coordinating frame profiles, colors, and design details can make separate shadowboxes look like one collection.

Can the front of one jersey and back of another be displayed? Yes. This project illustrates how both sides can work together visually.

Can photos and patches be included? Depending on their size and the display design, supporting memorabilia can be incorporated alongside jerseys.

How do I start a jersey framing project? Bring the jerseys, any accompanying keepsakes, approximate dimensions, and your display ideas to a PWCF consultation.

Thank You, Aaron Garrett

At first glance, this oversized abstract seems to be a flowing field of yellow, green, and deep blue. Move closer, however, and the artwork reveals its real character: hundreds of closely spaced vertical strands create the image through color, repetition, and dimension. It is precisely the kind of original artwork that deserves a frame designed around the piece—not the other way around.

A Modern Abstract Built From Color and Rhythm

The completed artwork features fine vertical lines that travel from pale yellow at the edges into bright greens and darker blues toward the center. An angled transition across the lower half gives the composition movement. The white field surrounding the strands keeps the arrangement airy, even though the artwork is visually dense.

Unlike a conventional printed image, this piece invites the viewer to notice its raised, repeating lines. The strands create a subtle play of light and shadow. From across a room, they blend into a large color-field composition; from nearby, their individual texture becomes the focal point.

Why Oversized String Art Needs Thoughtful Framing

Oversized pieces place different demands on framing than small, flat artwork. Size affects frame rigidity, handling, installation planning, and the relationship between the art and its surrounding space. A dimensional surface adds another concern: the frame should complement the texture rather than distract from it.

For this real PWCF project, the finished presentation uses a broad black frame around a bright white field. That contrast gives the colorful strands a crisp boundary while preserving the clean, contemporary character of the work. The photograph documents the finished presentation; it does not establish the exact mounting materials or glazing, so we do not make unsupported preservation claims.

A Black Frame That Lets the Artwork Lead

The strongest framing choice is not always the most ornate. Here, a restrained black profile anchors the composition and balances its energetic color. It also makes the white background appear intentional, giving the art visual breathing room. This approach works particularly well for modern interiors where a large artwork may become the room’s defining feature.

PWCF works with extra-large and oversized artwork as well as original paintings and art. If your piece needs a custom presentation, our custom framing services are a practical place to start.

What to Consider Before Framing Dimensional Art

Before choosing a frame for string art, ask how far the surface projects, whether the piece is flexible or rigid, and where it will hang. Measure the actual artwork—not just the visible colored area. Consider the finished weight, wall type, access through doors and stairways, and the lighting around the display.

Dimensional artwork should be evaluated individually. Some pieces may benefit from additional depth or spacing; others can be presented without those features. We recommend a consultation before making assumptions about the right construction or glazing.

Oversized Art Can Transform a Room

An artwork like this can give a living room, lobby, conference room, or designer-led interior a distinct visual identity. Its green-to-blue gradient brings color without relying on a literal subject. The repetition of the strands adds visual order, while the angled pattern introduces movement.

For a different example of how PWCF presents distinctive artwork, see our Foo Fighters foil poster project, where the colors change with the light. Our 48-star American flag framing story shows how a completely different material calls for its own presentation strategy.

Frequently Asked Questions About Oversized String Art Framing

Can PWCF frame large, dimensional string art? Yes. PWCF handles oversized and specialty artwork, with design decisions based on the actual piece and its construction.

Does string art always need glass? No single glazing answer fits every artwork. The piece’s depth, fragility, display location, and owner’s preferences should guide the decision.

Why choose a black frame for colorful abstract art? A dark, simple profile can create contrast and emphasize the artwork’s colors without competing with the composition.

Can a designer arrange framing for a client? Yes. Interior designers can contact PWCF to discuss framing specifications, project timing, and presentation goals.
